Continuing the summer bbq theme is Oldenburg Syrah 2009 from Stellenbosch. This wine is a study in old world/new world crossover winemaking. Certainly plenty of rich, deep and ripe fruit here, but there's lots of structure to support it and the wine is very nicely balanced. This is not for lovers of the lighter end of Burgundy, but if you enjoy a wine that packs a punch with your BBQ bangers then it is well worth it.
