Barbera d'Alba, an underrated red from Piemonte is less well known and less appreciated than its famous cousin Barolo. Barbera is lighter bodied, with higher acidity and much less tannins than Nebbiolo.
This wine has soft tannins and a fresh persistent acidity which is typical for Barbera. It is perfectly balanced with a sweet fruity taste and a medium-long finish. Selected from a single vineyard, Vigneto Elia, this inriguing wine is made entirely in stainless steel vats, in accordance with the traditional production method for Barbera which is somewhat against recent trends to mature Barbera in oak to make it more tannic and soften the acidity.
