This magnificent top of the range wine from Pico Cuadro in Ribera del Duero, Spain's most prestigious wine region, is available at a fraction of the price of wines produced by Pingus and Vega Sicilia, its illustrious neighbours.
Pico Cuadro Vendimia Seleccionada 2009 is red ruby with a garnet hue. The nose displays notes of ripe cherry and raspberry and complex aromas of cinnamon, pink pepper, and cigar tobacco. There is a rounded intense fruit-driven flavour on the palate. It has elegant tannins balanced by mineral acidity. It has a long persistent, spicy and smoky finish and is best paired with lamb rack, stuffed turkey with chestnuts, and hard cheeses.
It is drinking well now and should continue to do so for the next 5 years
