It's hard to find tasting notes for this wine in the UK but in essence this is the second wine of the more famous Ridge Montebello. To be honest this is probably better than many first wines from the Left Bank! A more forward style than it's European rivals it offers a generous and unctious mouthfeel derived from the merlot component in the blend. Red berries, chocolate, spice and plums on the palate. The nose is a little more austere and if anything is a little more Paulliac in style. Very delicious and very ready.

Continuing the birthday celebrations, some good friends and I polished off 3 bottles of this heavenly goodness. Fantastic and oddly 'classy' aromas reminiscent of Pauillac. With all wines I enjoy, there has to be a balance and this one started out with strong plum and jam notes into well developed strong tannins creating waves of food friendly flavour. Some spice and even some carbon/smoke notes! Just divine and glad we aged it for the decade.

First bottle in four years and this has aged beautifully. Purple and opaque with an narrow translucent edge. Nose is very fruit forward for a ten year old wine. The nose is less floral, has some sour cherries with mild spice and vanilla that contributes to enveloping nose. Pallate adds sour cherries and tobacco and mild lingering acidity on the finish that is paired with minerality and cherries. Great value. 5+13+16+8=92
