The Foundry is a small winery established to produce wines of outstanding quality, purity and authenticity.
The Foundry Syrah 2008 has an intense deep ruby colour. The wine has an enticing savoury and spicy character. The palate is intense and rich with generous ripe fruit and structured silky tannins.
From Meerlust winemaker Chris Williams, whose own venture, The Foundry, has won critical acclaim, this 100% Stellenbsch syrah is a benchmark for the grape. The aim is to produce a wine of refinement rather than brute power, retaining the herb-and-spice appeal the variety achieves in the northern Rhône.
