A pair of bottles from a case stored in my underground Victorian cellar.

James Halliday Wine Companion: 96/100
Hand-picked, berry-sorted, wild (1/3) and cultured yeast, open and closed fermentation, 21 days post-ferment maceration, 15 months in new and used French oak. This really has echoes of Bordeaux, particularly on the back-palate and finish, when the ripe, but firm, tannins mesh with the blackcurrant fruit so much so you're not sure where one stops to allow the other a chance to speak. Then throw in the French oak, and you simply have to let it all wash over you, relax and enjoy it.
