3 bottles of this top Brunello from the excellent 2004 vintage.

Smoke, tar, licorice, grilled herbs and wild cherries flow from Sesti’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino. This is an especially dense, full-bodied wine that shows off remarkable depth and richness in its endless layers of fruit. The finish is sweet and long. This, too, is another wine that will require patience, but it is a gem. Biodynamic farming and traditional winemaking - with all operations undertaken according the lunar calendar - are at the heart of proprietor Giuseppe Sesti’s approach. Based on the beautiful wines I have tasted in recent years, I can only say the results are striking. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. (AG) (6/2009)

Good full medium red. Mellow, inviting, soil-driven nose offers scents of potpourri, flowers, leather, smoke and damp earth. Silky, fleshy and suave, with a compellingly round texture and lovely fullness without any impression of excess weight. Boasts plenty of life in the mouth. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and lingering notes of tobacco, game and camphor. A Brunello that conveys a classic noble rusticity. (ST) (7/2009)

These bottles were purchased from The Wine Society in 2013 and stored since then in my spiral cellar. They are in very good condition with excellent fill levels (see photographs).
