FOR SALE: ONE BOTTLE OF LOUIS ROEDERER CRISTAL BRUT CHAMPAGNE
This extremely rare bottle is being sold in excellent condition for its age, with the lable, foil, cork and bottle itself in superb condition.
It was purchased in France in 1967 to celebrate the birth of a child, but was never opened. It then spent the next decade in a French cellar, before being given to a relative in the UK in the late 70's to celebrate the birth of a grandchild - but again was never opened. It was then stored on its side in dark cool conditions, before I acquired it a couple of years ago. I have also kept this bottle in cool and dark cellar conditions in my house.
Bottles like this come up for auction or sale very rarely indeed. Ones with a known history even rarer. Hopefully you will be able to see from the pictures that the bottle is indeed in very good condition. I am happy for any propective buyer to arrange a viewing of this bottle prior to bidding if distance permits. I am also happy to take and send more pictures if requested.
As for value; Wine Searcher currently shows three UK based retailers selling this bottle. The cheapest is £950 and the most expensive is £1,440. My sensible reserve is set significantly below the cheapest. I'm aware that as a 2nd hand seller, I cannot hope to achieve a broker/retailer price. That said however, I am not sure you would be buying a better bottle by going to those retailers.
This bottle will be sent in a Cristal box (not the original) very securely packaged and fully insured, on receipt of cleared funds. Alternatively, given the rarity and value, the winner might like to arrange collection in person. This would be fine.
