Description

A very rare bottle of D.P 1961.

The label is complete as is the cage and capsule - no foil used at that time for Dom Pérignon.

The level can be perceived in the main photo which is commensurate with age - some 55 years.

This bottle will be sent in a DP box but from a more recent vintage.

Offered with a very reasonable starting price and NO RESERVE.
The rare bottles on WineSearcher are offered at £350/£400 PLUS 20% VAT.

3/16/2011 - GARANG WROTE: 98 Points
Gorgeous golden colour. Uber rich nose full of honey and apricots. On the palate, a looong finish full of delicious flavours. Champagne simply doesn't get much better than this.

4/28/2011 - DUBIE WROTE: 97 Points
Not because it is 007's favorite champagne, but this was quite an experience. The anxiety around the table only grew when the initial nose from the bottle seemed a bit off, but that was simply the consequence of opening a bottle 50 years after it was closed! A majestic golden colour, tiny bubbles... but the wine stained the palate with its rich aromas. A perfect bottle.

9/13/2012 - PACALET WROTE: 93 Points
Still with faint bubbles, lush yellow in colour. Nose of mazipan, malt and honey, got better with air. Very full palate yet atill got life left. Good and big champagne but might be better a few years ago. Dom in the 60s are amazing.
