FOR SALE: ONE BOTTLE OF 1964 BOLLINGER RD CHAMPAGNE
Sold in very good cellar condition, this very rare bottle of 1964 Bollinger RD has been very well stored throughout its life.
As you can see from the pictures, the label is somewhat cellar-soiled with some grazes and nicks. The important information is certainly readable though. The level is excellent - well above the foil, which itself is in very good condition with no rips, tears or holes. The contents are wonderfully clear with very little or no sediment present. All this certainly implies that this bottle will still drink very well indeed.
Bollinger's RD is marketed as the house's top champagne and spends at least 7 years maturing on the lees. In the case of the 1964 RD, it was matured for 10 years and only bottled/disgorged in 1974. I have sold many bottles of RD - but none so rare as this 1964. I actually also have a second bottle of this champagne in very similar/same condition.
There is currently only one merchant in the world selling 1964 RD - for around £1600+ ex VAT. The reserve and buy it now price placed upon this bottle is less than a quarter of this, which is EXTREMELY generous given the rarity and prestige of this bottle - not to mention the condition on the contents.
