I highly recommend the Bollinger 1990 Grande Annee. It is extremely backward, but, wow, what intensity and richness it possesses. The structure is akin to a serious red wine. 92/100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Gold-tinged color. Deep, maturing aromas of toffee, butterscotch, ginger and molasses. Fat and rich in the mouth, with excellent intensity; in the mature Bollinger style but far more successful than the bottling from the lower-acid 1989 vintage. Served at lunch, this ’90 Bolly is showing beautifully at present. A delightful, crisp nose of brioche, apple-blossom, a hint of nougat, praline and cashew nuts all with wonderful definition and vibrancy. The palate is showing very good fruit concentration, very smooth and slightly honeyed in texture, it almost had me guessing that it was another VVF having just tasted the ’92. Great mineralite towards the finish, elegant and beautifully poised with that praline notes coming back on the aftertaste. All you could wish for in a ’90 champagne. Drink now-2015+.
