Description

This bottle has a big stain on the label, but other than that looks to be in incredibly good shape. The level is seriously good - it doesn't seem to have lost so much as a whisper of liquid over its 50+ years in bottle - and the foil is excellent. When held up to the light the liquid looks to be bright, clear and surprisingly light in colour. All of which I suppose reflects the fact that this was a truly legendary Champagne vintage.

Obviously geriatric fizz such as this comes with all the relevant risk warnings, but I can perhaps offer some optimism. The bottle came with a few odds 'n' sods I bought when collecting a very old case of port. I've since opened a 61' Montrose and it was in tiptop condition. Appreciate it's a very different animal, but at least confirms the bottles were stored well.

Full disclosure, I've not popped the cork of one of these yet, so can't offer an insight. But I do have one held back for myself so will be very interested in the buyers of this one's report :)
