Description

England's best sparkling wine. Their inaugural offering, from the great 2009 vintage! Extremely limited production.
Tasting Notes
For more than a decade now it has been my privilege to create the wines for many of England’s best sparkling wine producers. Ever since leaving my old job to help establish the winery at Wiston, it has been my dream to launch my own wine. With SUGRUE PIERRE my wife Sacha & I are finally making that happen. "With this wine I am looking to showcase what is brilliant in English fizz: the purity and elegance we can get from chalk grown Chard and Pinot in a great vintage. There is no Pinot Meunier here, and just 8g/L dosage, and the wine is relatively young - not much more than 2 years on lees, but close to 10 months on cork now." April, 2013 Winemaker's notes: 2009 was a brilliant year for winemaking in England. This was the first crop from a Sussex vineyard planted on chalk in 2006, harvested in near perfect conditions. 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, pressed in traditional Coquard basket press with small portion put to new oak. Bottled May 2010, extremely limited production. Disgorged in June and October 2012 at 8g/L dosage.
Press Note:
Winemaker Dermot Sugrue - "Made by Dermot Sugrue, former winemaker at Nyetimber, comes this incredible, highly complex wine. With a tiny production and handmade feel throughout, this is a spellbinding wine and one which will woo everyone who tastes it." - Matthew Jukes.com/The Mail
