From the heart of Laithwaites, I present the Founders Reserve.
The Theale Vineyard was planted in Spring of 1998 under the guidance of Thierry Lesne from Champagne. 704 Champagne Chardonnay vines planted with the same discipline and care as in France.
The first harvest was hand picked on 3rd October 2002 by the Direct Wines vintage crew, in a record two hours. The 850Kgs of grapes were then taken to the winery in small crates for vinification by England's leading sparking wine maker, Mike Roberts.
The resulting 750 bottles of Founder's Reserve have been matured for release from Spring 2005 - Tony Laithwaite.
