Description

A very mature bottle of 2eme Grand Cru Classee Ch. Gruaud-Larose from the excellent 1923 vintage (in German merchant bottling).

Gruaud-Larose is one of the most reliable classfied estates of Bordeaux and one of the top estate of St. Julien.
The bottle is almost a century old, accordingly it is to be considered more of a collector's piece.
The condition is quite satisfactory, with readable, yet soiled label, missing secondary neck label (which would shiw the vintage again), mid-shoulder fill level and the capsule showing come cracks and corrosion.

This bottle is a German merchant bottling from Andreas Ruck from Hamburg - highly interesting, as the front label shows all information in German wine nomenclature ("2.Gewachs" = 2nd Growth, vintage with the typical 'er' suffix).
The bottle itself is quite heavy with thick glass, showing typical pre-WWII hallmarks of glassmaking.
