An extremely rare bottle of Ch. Lafite Rothschild from the legendary 1945 vintage.
Please note that this is a second bottle at auction, this one being in lesser condition.
This brings together some amazing aspects:
Chateau Lafite Rothschild, one of the most legendary and sounding names in the world of fine wine and 1er Grand Cru Classee of Bordeaux and the 1945 vintage - one of the most important and legendary vintages of the 20th century!
The bottle is in satisfactory/passable condition for its age (see images), with storage related soiling of the label and various tears, considerable corrosion and cracks of the capsule, but with a good fill-level for the age at ca. mid-shoulder.
Due to the age of the bottle it is possible that some seepage/light damage to the cracked capsule during transit might happen despite careful packaging.
As various other vintages of Chateau Lafite (e.g. 1985), the 1945 shows the vintage directly on bottle, raised in glass.
The bottle itself show the typical hallmarks of a post-WWII wine bottling of the 1940s with a slightly conical, rather than entirely straight shape, slightly thicker and heavier glass and the typical bottom-finishing of a Bordeaux wine bottle produced in that period.
