Chateau Lafite-Rothschild, 1945
An ultra-rare bottle of Ch. Lafite Rothschild from the legendary 1945 vintage in exceptional condition for its age.
Please note: There is a second bottle in noticeably different condition for auction as well, this auction is for a different bottle!
This piece brings together some amazing aspects:
Chateau Lafite Rothschild, one of the most legendary and sounding names in the world of fine wine and 1er Grand Cru Classee of Bordeaux and the 1945 vintage - one of the most important and legendary vintages of the 20th century!
The bottle is in excellent condition for its age (please see images!) - with some soiling and tears of the label and, a corrosion spot on top of the capruls capsule (which is otherwise mostly instact, beautofullt showin the Lafite stamp of the period) and an excellent fill-level for the age at ca. very-top shoulder, almost reaching into neck.
The cork appears to be in particularly good condition - it beautifully shows the Chateau and vintage (see images).
As various other vintages of Chateau Lafite (e.g. 1985), the 1945 shows the vintage directly on the bottle, raised in glass.
The bottle itself show the typical hallmarks of a post-WWII wine bottling of the 1940s with a slightly conical, rather than entirely straight shape, slightly thicker and heavier glass and the typical bottom-finishing of a Bordeaux wine bottle produced in that period.
