The King of Veneto. Amarone is a big wine and has a big name. Not many are bigger than Bertani who is synonymous with Valpolicella. The Bertani estate covers over 500 acres and they have two wineries: the original one in Valpantena started in 1857 and a newer one in Tenute Novare purchased in 1957.
The grapes for the estate's signature Amarone wines are dried naturally without the use of artificial air conditioning. The grape musts are then fermented for more than 50 days in concrete vats before seeing approximately six years in Slavonian oak barrels and 12 months in bottle.
This wonderful bottle is lying in a wine merchants cellar and is in very good condition. The level is only 3cm from cork which is good for a 40+ year old wine and the presentation is good also.
