A highly interesting and rare piece of collectible wine paraphernalia from my huge personal collection that is being reorganised.
This is a handmade crystal glass stopper from world famous Chateau Rothschild for oak barrels (yes, this is the size for an oak barrel - it will NOT fit a normal decanter in case anyone wonders!) that are used for aging wine.
Technically it could of course be used to actually plug a wine barrel, however it is more of a collectible and beautifully made decorative item.
It is hand cut from crystal glass and engraved with the Chateau Mouton Rothschild emblem that is present on the label of the 1er Grand Cru Classee wine of Mouton as well.
It comes in a small Mouton Rothschild box (shows signs of wear) - I usually placed it next to a crystal glass decanter if any wines from Mouton Rothschild were served!
It also makes for an excellent paperweight in the office!
