The 1996 vintage was an exceptional year for Piedmont, particularly Barolo and Barbaresco.
Despite the up and down weather, the resulting wines were often sublime. The Barolos, Barbaresco, and Barbera were all structured, complex, and rich in fruit with deep tannins. Many wines either benefitted from or needed significant cellaring to bring out their full potential.
