Description

These wines have been cared for at home; are drinking nicely; and are among last bottles of much-enjoyed cases.

The Domaine Saint-Denis Mâcon-Chardonnay 2014 is from a superb vintage - one in which Toby Morhall of The Wine Society says, 'lowish yields produced ripe yet fresh wines with great purity of flavour'. This wine has aged gracefully, and will pair well with a Brexit-tastic shellfish starter.

The lot gives a bit of vertical tasting spice, inasmuch as it offers both the 2010 and 2018 vintage of Château Monconseil Gazin, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux.

Blaye - the location of Vauban's great citadel to defend the Gironde estuary - is well up the Right Bank. This 500-year-old Château is home to the Baudet family who are fifth generation winemakers. The family property is run according to strict sustainable viticultural practices, and both these vintages are majority Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec also in the blend.

The 2018 is a juicy, modern Bordeaux that will match a Sunday Roast or casserole perfectly.

The 2010 - revered vintage - will give you dark and jammy fruits and a long finish: ideal for a generous cheese course.

These are good, quality additions to your table. I hope you will want to make a bid!
