A rare 1962 Grands Echezeaux from Leroy bottle bottled by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. This bottle is from the cellar of a German collector and is in perfect condition, having been stored in a subterranean cellar for decades. 1962 was a lovely vintage for red Burgundy, with Decanter citing the area around Vosne Romanee as one of the most successful communes. Broadbent gives the vintage five stars in his Great Vintage Wine Book 2, saying, ‘Well-worth looking out for’ and commenting that the Grands Echezeaux 1962 from DRC will drink beyond 2000. Given this wine’s appearance, it would seem likely that this will be a fine drink.
While there’s no direct comparison that I can find, a 1962 Grands Echezeaux from Leroy is on Wine Searcher Hong Kong for £5,100. The reserve on this is £1,000.
