Wine Advocate 93 Points
Le Mont is very different to the other lieux-dits Le Haut-Lieu and Clos der Bourg, since the vineyard is closed to the Loire and the green marl soil contains a lot of silex, which results in a more reductive, restrained and more crystalline Chenin that needs its time to open up. However, Huet s golden-yellow 2013 Vouvray Le Mont Sec shows a clear, intensely fruity but also lovely mineral bouquet of great precision, finesse and depth. Honey, chalk, lemon, and honeydew melon aromas intertwine with coolish and spicy, stony flavors that lead to a full-bodied, very pure, compact and complex, highly elegant and excitingly vivacious palate; there is a long and salty, persistently mineral finish full of tension and grip. From the dry 2013 trio, this is the most fascinating wine due to its finesse and thrilling purity. This Le Mont will further improve over the next 10+ years, but should be exceptional still in 20 years. Highly recommended.

Bright yellow. Subtle aromas of yellow currant, lanolin and muskmelon complemented by clove. Concentrated and complex, with a chalky crispness giving definition to the apple, apricot and citrus flavors. With both depth and bite, this chenin blanc remains firm and balanced. Hints of acacia honey and wild flowers join in on the pure, dry finish.
Armit Tasting Notes
Vivid, almost ethereal purity in this 2013 Le Mont Sec which is equally poised and taught on the palate. Concentrated to the extent that there is an almost viscous texture, there is incredible tension, seamlessly interwoven with an electric acidity. Serious, pithy extract combines with the superb lemon and apple fruit core, crackling with energy from start to finish. Dry, powerful and brooding, this is Vouvray Sec at its very best ? combining texture, minerality and supreme fruit purity.
