The 2003 Piedmont vintage was, overall, very good.

Like much of Europe, the growing season was extremely hot and dry with no rain over the course of the entire summer. The cooler Autumn temperatures were crucial to preserving acidity and aromatic characters which restored balance to the vintage. Many unbalanced wines due to an extremely hot growing season, but some nice surprises
