In 1988, Giovanni Abrigo, a great lover of French viticulture, completed his oenology studies and began working with his father Orlando in the family business. Ambitious producer and skilful oenologist, in almost thirty years Giovanni introduced important changes and technical improvements in the winery. In fact, alongside traditional winemaking methods, he introduced new automatic technologies to optimize the various phases of the production process. Today, the Treiso winery, with its 20 hectares in the province of Cuneo, produces some of the most important and well-known Piedmontese wines in the world: Barbaresco DOCG, Barbera d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, as well as various wines Langhe DOC.
The 2017 Barbaresco Montersino is laced with the essence of black cherry, plum, lavender, rose petal, cinnamon and menthol. Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2017 is a Barbaresco of gravitas. I would give it a few more years in bottle. There is a lot of character here.
