Bought as a case a few years ago, stored in a temperature controlled wine room.
For many, Langhe Rosso is an easy-going category, but Roagna s is made in a dead serious fashion. The wine sees a month long maceration followed by several years in oak casks and then a year in the bottle. The grapes come from Cascina Pira in Castiglione Falletto in Barolo and Pajé in Barbaresco, two highly coveted sites. Any vines in these sites under 20 years old go into the Langhe Rosso.
The wine amazes with the amount of complexity, elegance and nuance that it offers for the price. In the 2013, a wine that always overachieves is simply killer.

The 2013 Langhe Rosso is the estate`s young-vine Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco-designated vineyards. Already showing the first hints of aromatic development, this mid-weight Nebbiolo is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Crushed flowers, tobacco, cedar and dried cherries are all laced into the wine`s fabric. The 2013 is a good option for readers who want to drink a Nebbiolo with hints of tertiary complexity. The 2013 spent three years in cask, twice as long as the minimum required aging for Barolo these days. 91 points
