2005 vintage, not reviewed on RP; so this from Jancis Robinson; 17+/20:
Deep dark cassis colour with black core. Very sweet dark fruit, almost a hint of dark toffee. Powerful with vanilla overlay on the fine cassis fruit. Very smooth though there's plenty of tannin. Milk chocolate aftertaste. Drought led to 40% reduction in yields and lots of concentration.

2007 vintage, from JR, 17/20
100% old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon grown in a prime vineyard of 29has surrounding Miguel A. Torres’s house in Pacs de Penedès. Grapes were hand-harvested from October onwards. Rigorously sorted and then macerated for 28 days with a seven-day ferment taking place at 28-30°C. Aged for 18 months in 100% new French Tronçais and Nevers casks. Bottled July 2009. TA 5.3 g/l, pH 3.49, RS 2.8 g/l.
Very correct, fresh claret style and transparent. Notably less voluptuous than the Ch St-Pierre 2007 St-Julien tasted at the same time.

The purple-colored 2007 Mas La Plana displays notes of smoky oak, spice box, violets, black currant, and blackberry in its inviting bouquet. It opens in the glass to reveal a smooth texture, elegant personality, and enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. Nicely proportioned and with excellent volume, it has a drinking window that extends from 2014 to 2027. Mas La Plana has a demonstrated track record for longevity. I was shown vintages dating back to 1971 that were in fine condition. Especially impressive was the 1981, which at age 30 has an elegance that only maturity can impart.
