Warwick Estate Trilogy, Simonsberg-Stellenbosch 2016
Trilogy, first released in 1986, has always been Bordeaux inspired. In its earlier days it was cabernet sauvignon-led. In 2001, cabernet franc overtook merlot for the first time, and the elegant 2016 is only the second to be cabernet franc-led. Classically honed and elegant even in this hot dry vintage, already revealing floral and complex notes of licorice, tobacco and pencil lead, its 50% new oak is settling in nicely.
Drinking window to 2028
