1x bottle of 2016 Chateau Coutet - one of the most prestigious estates in the Sauternes/Barsac AOC, with 1er Cru Classe status since 1855 - in pristine condition, recently removed from bonded temperature controlled storage.
Sauternes makes one of the best sweet wines in the world, made with dissecated botrytised grapes which concentrate flavours and require several passes in the vineyard to pick up by hand on selected grapes only. Yields can be as low as 15hL/ha and they might be achieving one glass per vine only.
'Pale lemon colored, the 2016 Coutet reveals gorgeous quince paste, candied ginger and key lime pie scents with touches of lemon marmalade and peach compote. Full-bodied, rich and seriously seductive, it has a lively line cutting through the sweet, dense layers and epically long finish. Drink 2021-2049'.
