The Vega Sicilia Único Crianza wine, made with 90% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Suavignon, is a wine with its own name. It has 97 points in the Peñín Guide and 95 points in the Robert Parker Guide.
Vega Sicilia Único 1999 is Vega Sicilia's benchmark aging wine, although it shares its special sparkle with the rest of the winery's wines. It comes from the oldest vineyards on the property and its composition, in addition to Tempranillo, also includes Cabernet Sauvignon. Although it is old, the red maintains a liveliness provided by its good acidity offset by a resounding alcoholic strength. It has an intense ripe cherry colour, with the lively edge of a wine that is always full.
Fabulously scented nose. Glorious orange and caramel flavour. Raspberry, black currant and leather. great length Magnificent, especially considering how difficult that year was. Complex, with a slightly wild "baroque" touch. In 2013, in magnum, comparable in weight and flavor to a great Hermitage. Super silky and with a magnificent liquorice aftertaste.
