A member of The Balvenie range since the early 1980s, Founder’s Reserve is now a discontinued bottling and is rare.
On the nose, The Balvenie Founder’s Reserve is rich and complex with honey and orange notes and just a hint of peat. Its taste is full-bodied honeyed sweetness, with light spicy notes and a hint of sherry fruitiness. Its finish is long with a pleasant lingering richness.
The front label is cellar damaged as you can see and the bottle is not boxed. The back label is cellar damaged and virtually non existent. "A long discontinued 10 year old release, which tastes more like an 18 year old. This has since been replaced by the 12 year old Signature series. Now almost impossible to obtain, except of course from us here at Hard To Find Whisky." (£119.95 ex delivery).
The reserve price reflects the rarity and quality.
It is likely that this bottling is from the late 1980s.
