Description
Château Doisy-Daëne is Second Cru Classé winery located in Barsac within the Sauternes appellation. The estate has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924. For over eighty years three generations of vine growers have exercised talents to produce great sweet white wines : Georges (1924-1948), Pierre (1949-1999) and Denis since 2000. The vineyards are planted on soils that consist of red sand and clay with limestone with 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc varietals. On average, the vines at Doisy-Daëne are 35 years of age. The wines are typically deep, rich and vibrant and usually sell out en primeur – an unusual feat amongst the estates of Sauternes.
The 2005 Château Doisy-Daëne has a very attractive nose with perfumed apricot blossom, white peach and honey all infused with cold stone scents. The palate is very well balanced with beautifully judged acidity. This feels harmonious in the mouth, almost Coutet-like in style with a long, lightly spiced finish. This is an excellent Doisy-Daene from Denis Dubourdieu. Drink 2015-2040.

This is a great wine, but you would not expect anything else from Denis Dubourdieu. The nose is closed but has great definition. The palate displays exquisite balance, vibrant acidity, hints of almond and a tangible mineral core. Hints of beeswax and even kerosene towards the finish. Complex and engaging but always with supreme delineation and focus. Fabulous stuff. (Wine Journal)

This is fantastic, with masses of sweet fruit. Passion fruit, caramel and apple--this has it all. Full and sweet. Extremely serious for this estate.

Pale yellow color. Spicy, perfumed aromas of pineapple, peach nectar, nutmeg and ginger, with a complicating smoky nuance. Juicy, pure and penetrating, with harmonious ripe acidity framing the pineapple, white peach and citrus flavors. This has an almost painful spiciness today that gives the finish a somewhat aggressive character, but this is long and promising.

Sweet and round. Very flattering and charming. Lovely texture and freshness. Quite delicate and certainly wonderfully appetising. One of the few 2005s that could be served before a meal??? Long, neat. Not as full and sweet as some but very well judged. No enormous weight of sugar but very zesty. Drink 2014-26
