For auction with no reserve: one bottle of 1921 Chateau d'Yquem. Van der Meulen bottled.
Bottle is very good condition for being nearly 100 years old. Level excellent; no seepage. Capsule and label very good. Contents darkened (normal) with expected sediment.
This bottle has been excellently stored during the 20+ years it has been in my family. I cannot speak for its storage before then, save for that it was kept in professional storage by the previous owner (in Sweden). Before that - and how long the bottle was kept by the previous owner - I cannot comment.
1921 d'Yquem is one of the small collection of 100 point d'Yquems. This does typically apply to the chateau-bottled wines of course - the van der Meulens don't typically attract the same adoration. That said, 1921 van der Meulens are arguably rare than chateau bottles and this bottle is currently available from around £2000 to £6000 globally. The very low start price and the fact that this bottle is being offered at no reserve makes this a fantastic opportunity to own what is now a very rare bottle.
