A bottle in fine order considering its age.

Michael Broadbent accords a ***** to 1959 Sauternes.
"A great vintage. Monumental Sauternes following a long hot summer with some rain just before harvest to flesh out the heat-concentrated grapse, retaining their high sugar content.

This wine, as it says on the label is 'contigu Yquem' and indeed today, bought by Pierre Meslier, formerly Maître du Chai at Yquem and now called Ch Raymond-Lafon.

This exceptionally rare bottle has a good 'top shoulder' level (see main photo), a good complete label, and an embossed capsule with 'Grand Cru' clearly visible.
