Description

FOR SALE: ONE BOTTLE OF 1967 CHATEAU RIEUSSEC 1ER GCC SAUTERNES

Sold in very good condition, this bottle is being sold from my own personal collection after a review of my stickies. Need to make way for other bottles.... The bottle, capsule, cork and level are all very good, The label is also very good, if not a little faded. Perfectly intact and readable though. This bottle has been owned by my family for many years and has been stored very well indeed and should still be drinking nicely.

1967 was an excellent year in for Sauternes - indeed for d'Yquem, it was one of the best, with that wine garnering impressive praise, along with a 96 score from Robert Parker, and a higher one from the current Cellar Tracker Community. Rieussec, not having nearly the same cache and profile as d'Yquem, does not have the same amount of commentary, but there are some very good comments to be found if one wishes to put in a little research. The professional channels (John Kapon) on Cellar Tracker does have the following:

"The 1967 Rieussec was served out of magnum, a treasure from the cellars of Lafite. There was more orange blossom and a nuttier nose, but also similar candle wax aromas. The palate was richer and more honeyed, lush with a nice sparkle of acidity and bready flavors on its finish. There were secondary aromas of interior mahogany, and its acidity really stood out 94 points"

Current worldwide values place this bottle in the region of £385-450. A very fair reserve has been place on this bottle that takes into account the current market value, along with the profile and prestige of this wine. This is significantly below the lower value.

This bottle will be send very securely packaged and fully insured the buyer on receipt of cleared payment. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Please also see my other bottles for sale. Lastly, please by all means see my feedback attained whilst I have traded on BfW. It is very important to me that everything I sell is very accurately described and received by the buyer in the condition it is auctioned by me. My feedback score and commentary is I believe, testament to this.
