Description

In generally good order for 35 years in bottle.

Levels as per photo - Base of Neck
Labels: As good as they get at this age.
Capsules: Chateau embossed and in fine fettle.

The Comte Alexandre de Lur Saluces, whose family owned Château d'Yquem for centuries until its sale due to family divisions some 20 years ago, also owned (and still does) the neighbouring property of Ch de Fargues. Fargues cannot possibly rival Yquem, but it shared not only the owner but the wine maker also in Pierre Meslier of Ch Raymond-Lafon fame. The actual château was built in 1306 by the nephew of Pope Clément V (yes, Pape Clément...) Planted with 80% Semillon and 20 sauvignon on 12 hectares adjoining those of Ch d'Yquem.

Here are a pair of bottles from the '80 vintage in good order generally and as per the photos.
