Description

From the fabled 1983 vintage, Ch Raymond-Lafon needs no introduction as being the finest non-classified estate in the appellation.

Indeed, Robert Parker wrote:
"This estate abuts Yquem's vineyard. By 1972 the property was in a ruinous state when bought by Pierre Meslier, then manager of Yquem and he began to rebuild this wine's fabulous reputation.
Raymond-Lafon is a name to watch in the Sauternes district, particularly if one is looking for a wine that is close to the brilliance and majestic richness of Yquem for less than one third the price".

He has also noted this particular wine as follows:
Jan 1998 Robert Parker 93 Drink: 1990 - 2020
This is a magnificent wine. Light golden, with a wonderfully pure tropical fruit aroma of ripe pineapples and melons, this decadently rich, full-bodied wine has layers of viscous, sweet fruit, an astonishing finish, and excellent balancing acidity. The wine remains stubbornly slow to evolve. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020.
