Description

Alas my final bottle of this beguiling vintage, probably the best of my lifetime, for me- still remarkably young considering it is almost aged 15.
The last 4 cellar tracker reviews do it( just about!) justice...
A special gift or a Christmas treat.

10/2/2015 - SALIL WROTE: 94 Points
This is spectacular. An incredible fragrance with an array of saline, chalky, and other minerally notes, fresh herbs, ripe grapefruit and other citrus fruits all coming together into a scent that's hard to move away from. It keeps opening and evolving with air, and the palate presence is remarkable - full bodied and intense, yet very light on its feet at the same time with powerful acids, and great length. Stunning wine. Glad I have one more.

10/2/2015 - INDISCRIMINATE PALATE WROTE: 93 Points
I'm not sure how to describe the nose except that I could not stop smelling it! Blind, I would have guessed white Burgundy, but with more interest and character. Rich, ripe, juicy citrus and apricot, saline/ocean water, pepper/spice. Amazing, high acidity, though it is incredibly in the background, supporting the fruit and palate rather than taking center stage. Long finish of saline/mineral and lemon, yielding to the acid. Excellent. 92-94

Update: next day, only a smidge (=approx 1/2 ounce in American standard) remained, but that was enough to again be beguiled by the nose: mossy ocean-side wet rocks. Wow!

8/27/2015 - PIFCHO LIKES THIS WINE: 94 Points
Another great showing, similar to my last note.

6/6/2015 - PIFCHO LIKES THIS WINE: 96 Points
Without a doubt my wine of the year so far. Tension and minerality that are pretty mind blowing. This wine is all about its energy and this just keeps going and going. Finish that seems to last forever. Medium bodied - kind of the typical weight of a Sancerre. The fruit is citrus driven with some slight vegetal notes. Intense chalky minerals that just seem to stick between your teeth even minutes after the last sip. Super effort - 14 years young today, this should keep going for a while.
