Description

"…F.X. Pichler is the Chateau Latour, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Zind-Humbrecht, Sandrone and Helen Turley of the Wachau." – Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Located in Eastern Austria’s Wachau valley, FX Pichler is run by Lucas and his father Franz Xaver Pichler, the grandsons of the founder. Some of the estate’s vineyards are set on steep terraces dating back to the 13th century.

The trophy-winning wine develops its delicate nuances and exotic aromas thanks to the local microclimate. The grapes grow in a valley alongside the Danube river, where considerable temperature differences between night and day - and constant circulation of warm and cool air - allow the fruit to ripen slowly and gently, in some years until early December.

Durnsteiner Kellerberg 2007: From a high altitude, south-east facing site, picked on the 25th November with zero botrytis. Tight but pure and exotic. Classy.
