Light and brilliant gold. Fresh vibrant nose of green peach, tangerine, fresh cut flowers, sandalwood candle. Racy palate with good intensity of sharp flavors - citrus washed stony minerals, green apple skins, orange sorbet, tropical hints, touch of bitter persimmon.
Even better day 2. Not that deep, but sure sharp. 89-90
23/11/2012 - BEERZEBUB WROTE:
Very nice ripe fruit, along the lines of golden delicious apple and peach along with some tropical notes; white flowers; clean stony minerality. Good balance between moderate sweetness and a good dose of acidity, and quite tasty.

Consistent with previous note and excellent this evening with Chinese Cuisine.

Jasmine, apple, flint and beeswax nose. Lime, apple, pear and slate flavor. Creamy texture, medium weight and a slight effervesence. Perfectly balancing acidity in the long finish. Absolutely lovely and, in my opinion at least, even better than the excellent 2010. It kept getting better all evening. An outstanding entry level Riesling and a good match this evening for a bacon-wrapped, teriyaki-glazed pork tenderloin.

Helmut Donnhoff has been described by Wine International magazine as "undoubtedly the best producer in the Nahe". He is the latest in a succession of Donnhoffs dating back to 1750 to preside over this estate. Unsurprisingly for such a long - established family business, the very finest vineyards in the Nahe are included in its 12 hectares.
The vineyards are principally slate or volcanic soil, and are planted predominantly with the noble Riesling but also include some Burgundian varieties.
