De Fargues was previously sister chateau to Yquem before the latter was sold, circa 1996 to the French luxury goods giant, Moet Hennessy. Both then in the ownership of the de Lur Saluces family, where de Fargues remains and where the attention to detail in wine making is unique. De Fargues was owned by that family pre-fifteenth century; some pedigree!
By comparison with Yquem, de Fargues is a tiny vineyard of thirty-five acres producing a mere 15,000 bottles annually. Sometimes known as 'Yquem Junior'.
These two bottles surplus to requirements, were acquired a little while ago from a traditional cellar. Conditions perfect in every respect and still tissue-wrapped hence the lack of photograph.
