Wine of deep ruby red color with purple highlights.
Taste
On the palate the wine is dominated by shades of ripe fruit - cherries, cherry, plum, and felt notes of smoked meat, and cedar resin. The finish is long, mineral, with hints of balsam.
Aroma
The aroma of wine felt notes of blackcurrant, cherry and minerals.
Gastronomy
The wine goes well with meat dishes: grilled meat, fried meat, sauce and a variety of cheeses.
For those who do know Burgundy, Corton Charlemagne is one of those appellations which leads to various results, depending from the producer. That means that it is quite easy to find cheap Corton with low-medium quality from almost unknown producers or some of the most unbelievable white wines ever made; just thinking about Coche Dury or Leroy. This is because this vineyard is quite big and the difference here is made from the producer as well as from the location of the plots.
Dugat-Py is well known worldwide for the quality of its work in the vineyard so, that means, that this is another beauty built up to last at least 10 years if well kept. It will take time to fully develop its greatness, but for those which are unable to wait it can be appreciated young after 2 to 3 hours of carafing before serving.
Absolutely great wine and first vintage ever for the Corton for Dugat-Py! Highly collectible for the future..
