Jean Leon Penedes Chardonnay 1984

A well cellared example of Chardonnay from Jean Leon.
“Jean Leon, Torrelavit. www.jeanleon.es, jeanleon@jeanleon.es Est.1963. He was the other great pioneer of French grape varieties along with Miguel Torres. Leon made his fortune in the restaurant business in America and returned to Catalonia to set up a winery on Californian lines, with Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The first commercial vintage was in 1969 and the wines had achieved international recognition by the mid – 1970’s. León died in 1994 and today the estate has 100 ha of vines and has been part of the Torres group since 1997, although run as a completely separate enterprise by Miguel’s son, the other Miguel. However, the wines remain as excellent as ever”.
