Description

From HRH Jancis:
Such neat, tense fruit. Very youthful but if ever there was a coiled spring... Still the leftovers of fermentation around but this should develop into something very exciting.
That review is from en primeur in 2013, so I'm not sure it's much help. Averages 91pts on Cellartracker, last 4 English reviews below:

4/28/2018 - M.BATARD WROTE: 91 Points
Light straw color. Light and barely sweet. Peach and tropical fruit nose. Good, but not intrusive acidity. Superb paired against Szechuan dumplings and oysters w/ jalapeño and cilantro, but also against foie gras....Magnificent.

2/24/2018 - WOODIEBAYAREA WROTE: 90 Points
very nice as always, simply but with decent acidity and nice fruit

9/1/2017 - SOTTO325 WROTE: 90 Points
Terrific balance and less sweet than many other 2012s. Once again, a masterful effort by the Nahe modern genius whose drier wines compare favorably with fine Mosel offerings. Predominant citrus overtones, some candied fruit, honeysuckle and honey. Not as complex as I would like in a kabinett, but time may help.

5/21/2017 - WMWG LIKES THIS WINE: 94 Points
The interesting thing about this wine is the continuous theme of contrasting characteristics and counterbalances. Its rich but weightless on the palate; its stoney and mineral, yet rounded and welcoming; at times it is difficult to identify specific flavors, however its simultaneously bursting with flavor. I love this. With a couple hours air, more discernible components come out, though unique in their own right: late summer hay, parmesan, buttered croissant, lime grass, a distant gingerbread note. In any case, it remained virtually weightless on the palate. Fantastic.

Finally, for what its worth, I love this wine, but I have way too much German Riesling in the cellar.
