Château Fonroque is a Bordeaux wine from the appellation Saint-Émilion, ranked Grand cru classé in the Classification of Saint-Émilion wine holding this title since 1955.
Purchased from Alan Moueix by the Guillard family in 2017 this 17.6ha vineyard was certified organic in 2006, biodynamic in 2008 and has good limestone terroir with 25% on the plateau.Split into 30 plots the vineyard is planted 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged 80% in new oak and 20% in large wooden vats.
This is considered one of the estates to watch in the coming years with recent vintages back to 2001 showing constant improvement.
